Environmental Operative / Labourer (3-Month Contract)

Location: Northampton
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm)
Contract: Fixed-term - 3 months
Hourly Rate: £18.25 p/h Umbrella

A local Authority based in Northampton is seeking a reliable and hardworking Environmental Operative / Labourer to join our Property Maintenance and Compliance team on a 3-month fixed-term contract.
In this vital role, you will assist with property clearances, cleaning, garden maintenance, graffiti removal, and other general labouring duties to help maintain our homes and communities to a high standard.

Key Duties Include:

• Clearing and cleaning vacated properties
• Delivering and collecting materials and items
• Removing waste, furniture, and debris from properties
• Undertaking basic gardening and horticultural tasks
• Carrying out basic DIY and minor maintenance work
• Using tools, equipment, and chemicals safely and responsibly

What We're Looking For:

• A valid UK driving licence
• Good literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks
• Willingness to work in confined, unpleasant, or outdoor conditions
• Ability to meet high standards under time constraints
• Flexible, reliable, and able to work well in a team
• Willing to undertake training in multi-skilling and new tasks

Please note: You do not need to hold a CPC qualification or LGV Class C1 licence. You will be paired with another operative / driver-qualified employee.

A new opportunity has arisen to work for a Social Housing Contractor for a Multi Trade Carpenter on a temp to perm basis. The successful Multi Trade Carpenter will be required to work within social housing properties completing property maintenance in North West London and surrounding areas. You will be paid £21.40 per hour (CIS) with an van and fuel card supplied.

Working hours: 42.5 hours per week - Mon-Fri 8:00am til 17:00pm

Pay Rate:

• £21.40 p/h (CIS)

Multi Trade Carpenter Skills required:

• Carpentry
• Basic Plumbing
• Flooring
• Basic Plastering and tiling
• Fault finding and ensuring satisfactory fault rectification
• UPVC repairs and maintenance
• Double glazed unit replacement
• Carpentry such as kitchen repairs, hanging doors etc
• Use of a PDA to manage and record daily work.

Qualifications Required:

• Standard DBS Check
• Relevant trade qualification e.g city & guilds or NVQ

Salary: £40,000 to £42,000 per annum (incl. supplements)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 39 per week

The Role
We're hiring a Multi-Skilled Plumber to join a leading housing provider's maintenance team. You'll carry out plumbing and general repairs in homes across Havering and Tower Hamlets, ensuring properties are safe, warm, and well-maintained.
