Job Title: CHP Operative (Combined Heat & Power)
Location: London
Hours: Monday - Friday 8 - 4:30 PM
Salary: £34,605 - £39,980 (1.5x Sat - 2x Sunday)

I am recruiting for CHP Operatives to join a well-recognised University based in central London.

Responsibilities:

* To carry out the programmed planned maintenance on utilities plant and equipment in accordance with planned maintenance procedures. This is to include MTHW and steam boilers, CHP plant, district heating plant and their associated control systems.
* To investigate, analyse and repair faults on Utilities plant and equipment, respond to breakdown, fault and service request calls. To assist other tradesmen in completing diagnostic work and then to carry out any remedial work.
* To carry out the programmed planned maintenance on utilities plant and equipment in accordance with planned maintenance procedures. This is to include MTHW and steam boilers, CHP plant, district heating plant and their associated control systems.
* To investigate, analyse and repair faults on Utilities plant and equipment, respond to breakdown, fault and service request calls. To assist other tradesmen in completing diagnostic work and then to carry out any remedial work.
* Carry out a range of programmed, planned and reactive mechanical maintenance/repairs on building services, systems, infrastructure, plant and equipment in line with relevant procedures and schedules; specifically maintain and repair HVAC plant.
* Modify existing plant, equipment, controls and distribution systems as specified by the Maintenance Operations Supervisor or other designated manager; this to include as necessary the installation and testing of systems and completion of associated documentation.
* Interface positively with customers and maintain effective communication both directly and via Maintenance Operations Supervisor, Customer Services Centre etc.
* Steam Experience
* Install/remove temporary installations when appropriate and safe to do so
* Modify existing plant, equipment, controls and distribution systems as specified by the Maintenance Operations Supervisor or other designated manager; this to include as necessary the installation and testing of systems and completion of associated documentation

* Confident in working within Energy Centres
* Plant condition monitoring - to check the reliability and performance of the CHP
package, and to assist in planning unit maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Successful completion of a recognised craft apprenticeship in an electrical/mechanical discipline, or accredited training programme. Successful completion of a recognised craft apprenticeship, e.g. City and Guilds 2360 parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.
* HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Systems
* Successful completion of a recognised craft apprenticeship in an electrical / mechanical discipline, or accredited training programme.
* Experience with energy centres
* knowledgeable with steam and boilers

    Contract: 3 Month Contract Rolling - Interim Contract (One Week Notice)

    About the role

    * Provide technical expertise on remediation for LBS colleagues and a team of fire risk assessors/contract management and as Client-Lead to outsourced Fire Risk Assessment contractors, FRAEW contractors, and Retrospective Fire Strategy Contractors.
    * Respond to fire safety remediation queries that the Fire Safety team receives internally and externally.
    * To assist the Fire Safety Manager in the technical and professional development of the fire safety team.
    * Ensure all fire risk assessors are undertaking assessments on buildings for which they are suitably qualified and have the necessary relevant experience.
    * Contribute to monitoring existing processes and procedures and developing new ones to facilitate the management and control of fire risks.
    * To provide an expert technical point of contact and to all stakeholders and management on matters of fire safety and represent the technical expertise of the FST when required (e.g., meetings, communications, etc.).
    * Undertake suitable & sufficient Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments (HSFRA) in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for the common parts of premises.
